We often here some of the same questions time and time again so we will go ahead and answer many of those questions here.
This is a very important question and the answer is yes and no. There are a handful of things that must be considered before pressure washing a concrete surface. First, you never want to use high pressure to pressure concrete that is less than 3 years old. This is because concrete takes toughly 4 years to fully cure and pressure washing can cause a permanent etch in the surface of the concrete.
Another factor your consider is what shape the concrete surface is in. If the concrete is exfoliating and in rough shape then pressure washing may not be the best option.
If you have checked that the concrete is older than 3 years and is in good condition then you should be in the clear to pressure wash the surface. The final thing to keep in mind is the PSI of the pressure washer being used in the cleaning process. The PSI required for the job will vary depending on the equipment being used. At Eco Clean Power Washing, we use a tool called a surface cleaner with can take more PSI than the traditional wand and nozzle.
When it comes to cleaning concrete, there are two main cleaning methods. Those methods include pressure washing and soft washing. Generally, if your concrete has not been cleaned in a long time, it will need to be cleaned using pressure washing. However, once your concrete has been cleaned the first time using pressure washing it can be much easier to maintain using the soft wash process.
Soft washing your concrete can clean algae, mold, dirt, and other loos debris without causing damage to the concrete surface.
You should consider pressure washing your concrete if it is starting to get slippy due to the dirt and algae build up. Concrete washing is great for the aesthetics appeal but it is also very important for safety.
